All are welcome to come and help make a difference in someone’s life. This is a nationwide program that is getting creative people to put together blankets for those in need. We will teach anyone to knit, crochet or assemble the patches. And if you don’t want to knit, crochet or sew there are other things you can do. We need donations of yarn, hooks and knitting needles to get those started who would like to learn. We would love to have you come and join us either at the meeting or just by donating.

“Thy mighty name salvation is, and keeps my happy soul above; comfort it brings, and power and peace, and joy and everlasting love; to me with thy dear name are given pardon and holiness and heaven.”
Whenever I feel the that the world is beating me up a little, I often turn in our hymn book to one of the hymns by Charles Wesley. Charles was the brother of the founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley. Together with John’s talent for preaching and organization, and Charles’ gift for writing hymns, they were able to bring generations to the love of God through Jesus Christ.
But the reason I turn to Charles’ hymn/poetry is, that he speaks so comfortingly and beautifully of God’s neverending love.
“Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix is us thy humble dwelling;
all thy faithful mercies crown!”
There is just never a doubt in Charles’ writing that God loves and cherishes us. To Charles, God absolutely pure love without shadow or variation. And he convinces us through his writing that this love is open and available to us all. I hope that whenever the world beats you up, that you too will turn to the hymns of Charles Wesley. We have a lot of his hymns in our hymn book, so if the sermon gets too dry and boring, you can read one of Charles’ hymns and still get something good and wonderful from our worship time together.
I’ll see you in church.
